Blinkhorn then returned to England with York City who he played for one season before moving to Hyde and eventually AFC Fylde.
His honours include the 2004 Football League Trophy with Blackpool, The 2010 and 2011 FAI Cups as well as the 2010 League of Ireland Cup with Sligo Rovers.
Manager Phil Brown was very excited to land the experienced striker, stating:
“Absolutely delighted to have signed Matt. He’s exactly the type of player we need, he has bags of experience and is a quality player. He will be a major asset for us at the top end of the pitch, he will improve our attacking options no end. I’ve met with him several times and have really enjoyed our chats. It’s evident that Matt has excellent knowledge of the game, something that will be of huge benefit to this group of players.”
Welcome to Lancaster City Football Club, Matthew!
