We caught up with Mark Fell after City’s impressive win at Guiseley.
“I’m absolutely made up for everyone at the club. For me we were so unlucky to not win the first tie and then we felt a bit aggrieved with the late postponement last week – so motivation wasn’t really an issue but I still felt we were below our best 1st half. We asked for some changes at half time and again the lads response was first class.”
“Simon Wills put in a real captains performance, that’s the best I’ve seen him – he could hardly walk after 60 minutes but he’s got a massive heart and found a way to still intercept everything, tackle everything and track every runner. Same with Blinks who covered miles up there to help us retain the ball – but it was a full team performance and everyone associated with the club can take huge credit for a great night.”
“On chances created we’ve been the better side, Aiden hasn’t really had a save to make and our quality final 3rd is really coming together. Our deliveries into the box caused them problems all night, there’s no doubt for me we deserved it.”
Ahead of facing Blyth Spartans on Saturday, Fell said “It’s going to be a great occasion Saturday, another free hit against an in form side from the league above, we’ll back ourselves like we always do, have a real go and see where it takes us – I hope we can get a real atmosphere there Saturday to help the lads on.”
