Lancaster City booked their place in the semi finals of the Lancashire Challenge Trophy with a tense but character defining 2-1 win at Giant Axe.
Goals in either half from the Dolly Blues in the form of Paul Dawson and Brad Carsley means City are now just 90 minutes away from a place at the Macron Stadium.
The opening twenty minutes were all City and it was the home side who found the breakthrough thanks to Paul Dawson.
After running at his man with aggression, Dawson kept hold of the ball and placed a perfect ball past the Radcliffe keeper into the bottom left corner to give the Dolly Blues a 1-0 lead.
It was aggression throughout the first half from the Dolly Blues something they have shown all season long under Mark Fell and after the weekends defeat to FC United Of Manchester they grew into the match.
Goalscorer Paul Dawson then left the field after receiving a red card by the referee for a challenge on Matty Wolfenden.
Another chance came in the 32nd minute for City when a free kick was struck by Nialle Rodney with the ball flying inches over the bar.
The first half also saw a chance from the visitors Radcliffe with Danny Mitchley trying to chip Sam Ashton but good hands prevented the ball from going into the back of the net.
The first period of play came to an end with the Dolly Blues one goal the better. The second half would be a different story though.
Bringing Charlie Bailey on in the second half was influential to the game however, Radcliffe got themselves level with 13 minutes to go. However this did not stop City with them working themselves towards goal with the ball falling to Brad Carsley who slipped the ball past the keeper to send the Dolly Blues into the semi finals of the Lancashire Challenge Trophy
