Lancaster’s next opponents come in the form of Hyde United. City will be entering this game looking to maintain pressure on table toppers South Shields, whilst the Tigers will be hoping to have pushed further up the table after their trip to the Giant Axe on Saturday.
City are riding high on confidence and will look to extend their impressive unbeaten record of nine games to 10, having not lost since late September. The Dollies currently reside in third place on goal difference, with Basford United holding up the runners up spot. City remain two points off league leaders South Shields after an impressive 1-0 away victory against the Mariners last week. Lancaster’s most recent victory came on Tuesday night against Charnock Richard, with City running out 5-1 winners to progress to the quarter finals of the LFA Challenge Trophy.
City’s three previous fixtures:
Charnock Richard 1-5 City – 05/11/2019 (LFA Challenge Trophy)
South Shields 0-1 City – 02/11/2019
City 1-0 Witton Albion – 26/10/2019 (FA Trophy)
Hyde United currently find themselves lower down in the table, sitting in 13th place with 18 points. The Manchester based side have not won a league game since their 2-0 victory over Nantwich Town in early September, so the Tigers will be desperate to pick up three points as soon as possible. Their most recent result was a 4-1 defeat to playoff chasers Warrington Town last Saturday.
Hyde United’s three previous fixtures:
Warrington 4-1 Hyde United – 02/11/2019
Hyde United 3-0 Cheadle Town – 29/10/2019 (Cheshire Senior Cup)
Buxton 3-2 Hyde United – 26/10/2019 (FA Trophy)
Ones to Watch
City’s team performances this season have been the reason they’re two points off the top of the table, but there are a few players that are worth picking out and keeping an eye on for Saturday.
Keiron Feeney – He may have only just arrived at City’s gates, but newcomer Keiron Feeney has already given Lancaster fans a reason to be excited by his arrival. The forward made his Dollies debut in the 5-1 victory over Charnock Richard and scored his first goal in City colours. He loves having the ball and getting behind the defence, so should he take part in the game against Hyde United, then he will be bringing a good threat going forward.
Charlie Bailey – Charlie has been superb out wide for City so far for City this season. With his quick feet and close control, he can cut inside and take players on. He can also look up and spread the ball really well. His most recent goal came against Mickleover Sports, scoring City’s third to secure all three points. Will he score again this weekend?
David Norris – It’s impossible not to include this man’s name. David Norris has been City’s spearhead when it comes to grabbing goals and is the club’s highest scorer so far this campaign. Norris scored the winning goal against South Shields which closed the gap to just two points, can he push City one further and get them to the top?
One Hyde United player worth mentioning is 22-year-old midfielder Liam Tongue. The midfielder has scored six goals for the Tigers and has won three man of the match awards so far this season. He’s also bagged himself two assists. City will need to keep Tongue quiet if they’re to avoid an upset.
So, can City continue their impressive unbeaten run? Or will Hyde United pick their first three points since September 10th? Saturday will hold the answers to both questions. Come on down and give the Dollies as much support as possible! City face Hyde United at the Giant Axe at 3pm on November 9th.
