Match Preview – City vs Bamber Bridge

City return to home soil on boxing day, with The Dollies welcoming Bamber Bridge to The Giant Axe in the Northern Premier League.
Graham Lancashire’s men put in a top-class performance last time out against league strugglers Stafford Rangers, beating Boro 3-0 away from home, although Charlie Bailey’s red card was the only dampener. Meanwhile, Bamber Bridge will be looking to distance themselves further from the relegation zone, with the club currently sat in 16th place and nine points clear of danger.
City will be aiming to continue a turn in form when it comes to league encounters, with five points coming from their last four league fixtures. The Dollies will also be eager to maintain the pressure with joint table toppers South Shields, with the top spot seemingly a two-horse race, with Basford not far behind the pack.

Recent Form
Since December, City are unbeaten in the Northern Premier League, drawing twice and most recently winning against Stafford Rangers 3-0. City created a two-goal advantage after 35 minutes against Boro, and despite losing Charlie Bailey after his second yellow on the 38-minute mark, City pushed for a third and eventually got it thanks to Brad Carsley.
Previously, The Dollies were held to a goalless draw by Stalybridge Cetlic and gained a point away from home against Buxton.

City’s last three league results:
Stafford 0-3 City – 21/12/19 (League)
City 0-0 Stalybridge Celtic – 14/12/19 (League)
Buxton 1-1 City – 07/12/19 (League)

Bamber Bridge actually come into this game higher up in the form table over the last five games than City, picking up nine points out of a possible 15, and City trailing by one point.
Last time out, Jamie Milligan’s men suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Matlock Town, with Marcus Marshall and Dan Bramall getting the goals to give the visitors the three points.
Previously, Brig won their last two league games, beating Whitby 1-0 away from home and picking up three points at home against Mickleover in a 3-2 victory.

Bamber Bridge’s last three league results:
Bamber Bridge 1-2 Matlock – 21/12/19 (League)
Whitby 0-1 Bamber Bridge – 14/12/19 (League)
Bamber Bridge 3-2 Mickleover Sports – 07/12/19 (League)

City will be facing a familiar face when Bamber Bridge arrive at The Giant Axe. Former loanee Rowan Roache joined the Brig ahead of their clash with Matlock. City fans who saw Roache play for The Dollies not so long ago will be aware of the talent he possesses, and Graham Lancashire’s men will need to keep a close eye on him.
In City’s ranks, Paul Dawson and Brad Carsley both joined City from Bamber Bridge, with both players being released by Brig in January and linking up with Mark Fell’s side.
City will be aiming for another three points at home tomorrow, with the hope of continuing their surge to the top of the table.
