MATCH PREVIEW: CITY V GAINSBOROUGH TRINITY

The Dolly Blues will be looking to rediscover their form and show everybody just why they deserve to be so high up in the table when they take on Gainsborough Trinity this weekend at Giant Axe.

City haven’t won in three games and they will be desperate to bounceback from two consecutive defeats at the hands of Whitby Town and Hyde United.

In particular, last weekend’s 5-2 loss at Hyde has to be one of the biggest disappointments of a so far, great season. Mark Fell and his side will be focused and ready to put it right this weekend with a victory that can keep their playoff hopes alive.

Gainsborough are currently occupying 16th place in the Northern Premier League, they have 35 points, with a +2 goal difference. They will be looking to snatch all 3 points this Saturday, with hope that it will help them climb up the table and into the top half.

The away side will also come in to this one off the back of three straight home games, the latest being an impressive 4-1 home victory to Radcliffe Borough, proving that they could be a dangerous opponent this Saturday.

The last time these two sides met was back in August last year when the Dolly Blues ran riot and came out of The Northolme with all three points and a resounding 4-2 victory. An impressive first-half hat trick by David Norris proved to be the difference in what proved to be an entertaining affair.

City go into this game without forward Kieran Feeney who departed earlier this week to join Clitheroe in a move that will help him get more game time.

So we will see you this Saturday at Giant Axe, on a day where we will hopefully see a Lancaster win and three more points on the board. Come on you Dolly Blues!
